in the Korean army, we don't always have access to pots or bowls in the barracks, so we just pour hot water straight into the ramen bag and clip it with chopsticks.
It’s the easiest way to eat ramen without getting caught or having to wash dishes.
Back in the service, this tasted like a 5-star meal. But now that I’m discharged? I tried it at home and it just doesn't hit the same
miss that taste.

Microplastic yum op
The bag doesn’t disintegrate from the hot water?
The hard work really does wonders for craving food. And of course, food safety be damned. 🙂 I think you might be able to recreate the feeling somewhat if you try this after doing some heavy exercise.
BTW, I’d think the English transliteration would be more close to Ppogeuri 뽀글이 rather than Ppeoggeuri 뻐끌이.
Not even kidding. That is Expressway to get yourself a colon cancer.
it’s 뽀글이 (ppOggeuri) not 뻐글이 (ppEOggeuri)
There is a saying, “hunger is the best spice.”
My thoughts on how it tastes now vs during your service(thank you) boil down to context.
In the service, you only had access to army food and were doing manual labor activities.
As a civilian you can eat what you want, when you want. Probably not exerting yourself as you used to as well.
Just my opinion. Kind of like how things always seemed to taste better when you were a kid(nostalgia flava).
I’m a Korean American in the US and have never seen that ramen. Ill look for it at H Mart to try it. And pretend I got conscripted.
