Still in value town! Middle priced wine, punching above its weight, still absolute value.

I’d say some Etna Rosso. Favourite so far was Valenti Puritani.

  2. Twelve_Steaks

LdH Vina Tondonia Reserva Tinto. Enough said

  3. Acceptable_Trash_764

    Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino

Marcel Lapierre Morgon. $40. Tastes like village Burgundy. Gamay from old vines on granite in the hands of someone who actually cares.

  5. Sugar_Leg

The most blown away I’ve ever been by a $50 wine was a burgundy Pinot. Domaine Faively Clos Des Myglands.

    Honorable mentions to
Lopez De Heredia Vina Cubillo at $26.

Anthill Farms Sonoma Coast Pinot at $45

Patricia Green Freedom Hill Pinot at $35

    Edit (for readability)

Jean Foillard Morgon ‘Cote du Py’ (especially with age)

Marcel Lapierre Morgon. A masterclass in how good Cru Beaujolais can be.

Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Vire Clesse.

$50ish, tastes like burgundy 10x more expensive.

Any GG riesling from a reputable producer. $40-50 for cru level German wines.

Just wanna say as someone who isn’t always so comfortable in a wine shop, these posts have been so helpful.

Since people told me it was too expensive for the cheap category, I’m renominating Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes

  12. Cladmadder

    Domaine Jean Vesselle

Champagne ‘Rosé de Saignee’ or ‘Oeil De Pedrix’ both are excellent 50$-ish ‘grower’ fizzys.

  13. juviniledepression

Trivento golden reserve Malbec. 25 bucks for a bottle I’ve found to consistently prefer over cabs that are $90+

  14. G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo. $50 but you’d never know it.

  15. BisquickNinja

I would say Clio… Beautiful moderately expensive wine that just tastes wonderful.

Ifl most good sherry fits into this category, especially a palo cortado or oloroso. Absolutely stellar value for taste

Produttori del Barbaresco . Coop winery from over 50 producer that pool their best grapes and make the best wine they can. 40-100$ bottles that always punch way above their weight. Makes amazing cellar defender to protect top producer Barolo bottles

Shall we throw in a little Billecart Salmon Rose

Looking through all of the 1000+ ratings on Vivino that I entered the one that qualifies for me is The Blind Pig, Davis Vineyard, from JMC! That is poop-your-pants good for the money.

  24. 22goblins

Cremant De Loire, many producers make bottles in the 20 or 30 dollar range that easily compete with the “entry level” of big champagne producers

  25. Substantial-Effect72

Gruner Veltliner, you can get some very, very good examples that are still relatively inexpensive, and outdrink a lot of other wines in the same price range.
