North Italia underwent a routine health inspection by the Tennessee Department of Health on February 24. The eatery was found in violation of multiple health regulations, earning a low score of 79.

North Italia serves hand-tossed pizzas and homemade pasta made every day in the area. According to the report, the violations recorded were as follows:

An employee with a cut on his left thumb was seen cutting Brussels sprouts while wearing a blue bandage, but no gloves. The employee washed their hands, put on gloves, and the sprouts were discarded.
The report noted that an employee was handling dirty dishes and then handling clean dishes without washing their hands. The issue was discussed, and the employee washed her hands immediately.

The report mentioned that the marinara sauce held in a steam unit for 45 minutes measured 89°F. Meatballs was held in the same unit for 45 minutes measured 85°F. Both items were reheated on the stove to a minimum internal temperature of 165°F.
Employee drinks were seen not stored in cups with lids and straws, and one beverage was stored on the make line with food products.

According to the report, North Italia is expected to correct all the violations of risk factors within 10 days. Failure to comply with the regulations during reinspection will lead to suspension of the food service establishment permit.
