So, similar to another post from earlier, I had a coworker who brought in pints from Van Leeuwen for their birthday. I was so happy to see the birthday cake flavor because it’s one I’ve wanted to try for a while. I give it an 8/10, I’m not usually someone who likes really sweet things but, this I would grab this again if I was in the mood for it. The icing was a bit too sweet for me (just a bit). The only thing I wish were different was that instead of the cookies, it had crunchies, like the Carvel Ice Cream cake.

Crunchies would be so good. Cookies are an odd choice for ice cream cake flavor. I love their ice cream though

I mentioned this on the other recent post: yes the icing is sweet and it has this weird flavor that’s not offputting but reminds me of the waxy candles on a cake like after they’ve dripped a bit and either the wax gets on the cake or you lick the candles after removing them from the cake. It’s a weirdly nostalgic combination that I love. I do wish the icing were a bit softer like a swirl so I could divvy it up more easily; I sometimes have to chip away at it to get just a small piece in each bite. But it’s one of my favorite ice creams of all time and I will be devastated if they ever discontinue it.
