I know that leftover rice that isn’t seasoned doesn’t keep very well (unless you’re making fried rice), but what about sushi rice? Just curious for when I have extra. How should I store it if so?

Tip: In this photo I am cooling off my sushi rice quickly by spreading it on a parchment paper lined baking tray, putting it in the freezer and stirring every 5-10 minutes or so until cool. It is so much quicker! 🤍

Thank you sushi lovers! 🍣

put it in a container and freeze it. Microwave it when you need to use.

It doesn’t keep well. I honestly think if it isn’t seasoned or you don’t use vinegar, it keeps okay. When it’s seasoned with vinegar I feel like I have to eat it cold because reheating it makes it taste gross.

Sushi rice keeps very well, shockingly well, actually, given the anti bacterial properties of vinegar.

Think about it, top Michelin sushi chefs will keep rice in the “danger zone” for 8 hours during 2 services and it’s totally fine.

Just plastic wrap it and stick it in the fridge.

I wrapped it up tightly in plastic wrap and throw it in the freezer. Then when I want to eat it I microwave the sh out of it.
