I know this one isn’t specifically sardines lol but I grabbed some sardines and also picked up this octopus from the same haul because I was curious.
I’ve had octopus before but it’s been years, so I didn’t really remember what it tasted like.
Honestly… it was good. It looks crazy sitting in the can, not gonna lie, but taste wise it surprised me. The garlic sauce hit and the texture was actually enjoyable and I put it on some bread and it worked perfectly. I will definitely eat it again. Only downside is it just doesn’t look appetizing at first.
Anyone else into canned calamari or octopus? Or even stuffed octopus? Drop brand recommendations too please.

This is one of my favorite canned seafood. I struggle justifying the cost, but it’s a nice treat.
Canned squid is my favorite tinned seafood, those look amazing.
The quality of that octopus looks perfect 👌
Squid recommendations. Matiz giant calamari with white beans and paprika( dump the whole can in a hot pan with cooked pasta, a little of the pasta water, fresh squeeze of lemon and some red pepper flakes). Jose Gourmet spiced calamari in ragout sauce(again dump it in a hot pan till heated through, top with fresh grated parmesan and eat with toast to soak up all the sauce).
How did you eat or prepare them? I have two tins sitting in the drawer looking at me.
I’m not familiar with this brand. Was it good?
Garlic to pus sauce sounds like a great compliment to some nice oc
Literally read this as O-C-2-Puss. Then I saw the tentacle and felt like an idiot
Octopi are are extremely intelligent creatures. Extremely cruel to hunt and eat them.
Why eat such an intelligent animal?
OC WITH TO GARLIC PUS SAUCE
I was surprised as well. All the octopus I’d had in person wasn’t very well prepared (rubbery) but I tried a tin and it was like oh this is good. I like Wildfish octopus a lot. There’s a TON of good squid options. Jose Gourmet is a place to start.
Trader Joe’s calamari pieces is good. Goya octopus is ok, but much cheaper. Comur is wonderful but pricy and Matiz got me started on squid stuff. Miss Can stuffed squid is one of my favorites.
Octopus is my favorite tinned fish of all of them. So good!
love me some canned octopus.
Ritz , Louisiana hot sauce and a white onion. Ya welcome
Nice! I tried it once when my boss ordered it at a client lunch thing. Glad you liked it OP
It’s so good the appearance doesn’t bother me at all it’s the ethics that fucks me up so I barely ever eat it even tho it’s my favorite
This is a good tin. I think it’s best used as an ingredient, but nothing wrong with it on its own. I really enjoyed it just by itself plus hot sauce on random bite
I ate that exact tin yesterday for the first time with some fried rice, was delicious
