So I have 4 varieties of seedlings I have going for this upcoming year and two are doing great and thriving but two aren’t. I have them on the same watering, light, and temperatures as well as a diluted fertilizer after about a week and a half of the initial growth. Is it maybe the seeds themselves not being strong? Or am I missing something else. They all were planted the same day as well on the 10th of February.

I’m glad to see someone else using the “bring-the-seedlings-up-to-the-lights” approach instead of the “lower-and-raise-the-lights” method. I have a collection of cardboard boxes now of different widths so I can make several adjustments as they grow taller.

BTW, I don’t see anything wrong with your seedlings. Different varieties grow at different rates. That is to be expected. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Not all people grow at the same rate; not all dogs or cats either.

    They are all different

Not all kids grow at the same rate even though they have the same parents, eat the same meals and live in the same house. That’s biology.

The ones on the left look like they’re stretching for the light a bit, maybe the intensity is a little low on that side. You can fix that later by burying more of the stem when you pot them up, since tomatoes root along the stem.

Your babies look happy and healthy to me. I think you are giving them a nice start.

The ones on the left in question were all healthy and perked up and have slowly been hunching over and shriveling and starting to lose leaves. The two struggling are giant pink Belgian and brads atomic grape. The pink I grew last year and had no issue. The other two I’m growing are sun gold and a pineapple tomato.
