A few hours of shopping can certainly work up an appetite and now customers at the Metrocentre can unwind after a day of rifling through the rails with food at a new Italian cafe that’s just opened at the famous shopping mall. And people who’ve paid a visit already are raving about its food, particularly the ‘beautiful’ pizzas.
Now, when you think of food and drink at the Metrocentre, the vast majority of places to go for a bite to eat are located in the Yellow Mall, in the area that was the Mediterranean Village for years. Gone are the independent shops, little restaurants and the never forgotten mosaic map of the world and in their place are big chain eateries like TGI Fridays, Ask, Slim Chickens and Subway.
However, there is somewhere slightly more subdued to head for some food and that’s the Village. Just like the Mediterranean Village what was, for years, the Antiques Village, has changed rather significantly over the years. For a start there’s no talking man anymore, but there is now a new Italian haunt that is already getting some very favourable reviews from its customers.
At Boni, shoppers are being invited to ‘step into a slice of Italy’ and discover pastries ‘baked with love’ along with coffee and its authentic pizza which has already gone down a treat with those who’ve enjoyed it. Replying to a Metrocentre Facebook post about it, one satisfied customer enthused: ‘We went yesterday, highly recommend. Amazing fresh food and good value!’ as another wrote: ‘Good to see some independent traders need more of these.’
The opening of Boni comes ahead of a major revamp of the area right next to the Village. The Crescent will take over what is currently known as The Forum, next to The Village and between the centre’s Blue and Green Malls. If you’ve been at the Metrocentre over the festive period, to do some last minute present shopping or bargain hunting in the salkes, you’ll have probably spotted the billboards up advertising The Crescent, which will feature 10 refurbished retail units and a new cafe.
