    Do you cook them for safety or can they be eaten raw?

    Belly clams (steamers)? I’ve only had them fried or steamed. Are they not gritty?

    The trick w/ steamers is while they are still alive you submerge them for a day w/ cornmeal. They spit out the dirt and intake the corn. That said, I’ve had a lot of steamers in my day and never heard or seen 2 necks b4.
