Family-owned Australian wine distributor Samuel Smith & Son will assume responsibility for the national distribution of wine made by Adelaide Hills-based producer Sidewood Estate.
Distribution will commence from 30 March, signifying the beginning of a “strategic partnership between two South Australian family businesses with a shared commitment to quality, regional authenticity, and long-term brand building”.
Owner and vigneron at Sidewood Estate Owen Inglis shared how the partnership was a clear next phase for the winery.
“We’ve spent over two decades building Sidewood from a single vineyard into one of the Adelaide Hills’ leading producers…securing strong and consistent national distribution was the next step for us.
“Samuel Smith & Son’s reputation, customer relationships, and ability to execute across all Australian markets made them a natural partner. We are confident they will represent Sidewood Estate with the care, focus, and ambition the brand deserves,” he said.
Ty Menzies, executive director sales Australia and New Zealand for Samuel Smith & Son, said that Sidewood Estate is an “outstanding example” of a family-owned local producer with a genuine market relevance.
“Their track record at both national and international level speaks for itself, and the quality across the portfolio, from the Mappinga, Single Vineyard and Estate ranges, gives us real depth to work with across premium on- and off-premise channels. We are excited to work with Owen and the team to build Sidewood Estate’s presence nationally with a long-term, brand-led approach,” he said.
Sidewood Estate was founded by Owen and Cassandra Inglis in 2004 and notably holds ‘Five Red Star’ accreditation from James Halliday. It has won over 65 trophies and 800 gold medals at both local and international stages since 2015.
