The Chicken or the Egg, which most people on Long Beach Island simply call “The Chegg,” has been a favorite Jersey Shore restaurant since it opened in 1991. It was started by brothers Mark and Craig Cohen as a small breakfast and lunch spot, but it quickly became popular with both locals and summer visitors.

As more people discovered it, the restaurant grew and eventually moved to a bigger location in Beach Haven. Over time, The Chegg became known for its huge breakfast menu, famous chicken wings, and late-night hours, especially during the busy summer season when crowds of beachgoers stop in after a long day at the shore.

Today, it’s one of those classic LBI spots that people look forward to visiting every summer because of its relaxed vibe, big portions, and fun, lively atmosphere.

I have been there numerous times, I always enjoy the food and the atmosphere. I love their “Wing-O-Meter” that gives you the heat index of their sauces. In all honesty, I enjoy Mediyummm and Swamp Sauce. These two are hot but not too crazy.
