This is why I immediately started using filter paper on the top of my pucks as soon as my new Move showed up 😬

There is where the crema and aroma coming from. 😅 I don’t understand how some people are so careless with their machines, and ultimately even with themselves, because they drink that stuff.

Lawdy. How do I check if mine is like this? 😬

Is it worth replacing them when they’re like this or just clean and good to go?

How do you people let it get this bad? Wtaf?

How often should you clean these to prevent buildup like that??

  7. Skuhdoo2

Cafiza baths once a week would prevent this.

Am I the only one that uses puck screens to avoid this?

It’s crazy to me how you can even get to this, I just took mine off my bambino plus that has made 2 espressos per day for 4 years for the first time and there was minimal residue on the shower screen. Just wiped it with my finger and ran a little water over it and it looked brand new, takes 2 seconds to flush quick after a shot to prevent this.

Yeah this was on a used Silvia pro I bought… took me a lot of cleaning and back flushing before I didn’t feel grossed out making coffee lol.

Filter paper is a interesting idea haha

EVERY used Saeco machine that I fixed was like that.
One was so bad that water barely flowed thru the screen. It was completely PACKED with coffee residue. Even the holes in the screen were CLOGGED.

The Saeco does not have a 3-way solenoid, so no self cleaning.
You had to remove the shower screen to clean the accumulated coffee residue.
And there-in was the problem. The shower screen screw was TIGHT and HARD to remove. Impossible for most users. It was probably OVER tightened at the factory. Of all the machines, only one could be removed without a LOT of effort. Most of the screws were damaged or destroyed in the process of being removed, and had to be replaced.

BTW, cleaning the shower screen is not even in my old Saeco nor my new Solis instructions.
So RTFM is of no value, if the info is not even in the manual.

And who even READS their instruction manual, to look for that kind of maintenance item.
I’ve seen MANY instruction manuals for all kinds of stuff, still sealed in the original bag, NEVER READ.

They probably did not descale the machine either.

  13. Well, I know what I’m gonna check tomorrow morning.
