A content creator visited Jamie’s Italian in Dundrum Town Centre — but it wasn’t the food that let him down.

The YouTuber, known as Paul_IsItWorthIt, enjoyed a three-course meal at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, but the prices floored him as soon as he took his seat to scan the menu.

He said: “The prices are… John (cameraman) and I had a discussion here. I think they’re a bit on the high side.” John meanwhile claimed they were “robbery” prices but that it was to be expected given they were in Dundrum.

Paul meanwhile ordered tomato bruschetta for starters which set him back €9.95 — and he said it was a “tremendous dish”. He explained: “You’re getting the freshness of the tomato paste first and the creamy cheese and then that tomato just bursts in your mouth, so ripe, the flavour hits you.”

Paul ordered the lasagne for his main course, despite raising eyebrows regarding the cost of almost €25. After it arrived, he said it was like no lasagne he had ever seen in his life, before John pointed out that they might just be uncultured.

He also got a side of chips where it was €1.50 extra to get some parmesan on top — prompting him to say he “hated” when restaurants did that.

However, as for the lasagne, he said: “That’s pretty incredible. The one thing I am noticing with this place is the quality of the ingredients they are using is fantastic. That tomato sauce, my god, I could almost drink that tomato sauce.”

But sizing up his plate, he asked: “Is that a small portion? Yeah, it would strike me as a small portion. It’s pretty small.”

Paul also tried a slice of his pal’s spicy pepperoni pizza and again praised the food at the restaurant.

For dessert, he ordered a chocolate brownie for €10.95, and he described it as the “most expensive brownie” he has ever had.

Commenting on it, John replied: “It’s €10! That is insane. That’s a frowny, like I’m fuming.”

After the meal, Paul, who calls himself “Ireland’s most honest food reviewer”, offered some concluding thoughts.

Glancing at the bill in his hand, which came to €66.85, he started with the cost, and said: “Now, I think it is high, it is a high price, I really do.

“There are certain prices there, like lasagne, €24? If that was €20 I’d be really happy with it. The bruschetta, €9.95? If that was €7.95, even €8.95, even just a euro less. But €9.95 is a lot for one piece of bread with a bit of cheese and four tomatoes.”

He then called out the pizza for being €21.95 along with the brownie which was over a tenner.

Concluding, he said: “I think it is price town. On the pricey end of things I would give it a four out of 10 for the price. It is expensive.

“Would I go there on a date or something? Yeah I probably would, I think it is a good spot. You’re right in the middle of Dundrum.”

As for the experience, Paul gave a more favourable score of nine out of 10 and said he could not fault the exceptional service.

He then said taste wise, because of the high quality produce, he would give it a rating of eight out of 10.

And given his overall score based on price, experience, and taste, he said seven out of 10 was the “perfect” rating for Jamie’s Italian.

After posting the video, which you can watch in full here, one person replied: “Everything looked excellent! The price seemed right for the quality of the food. Great review, totally enjoyable.”

Another said: “Worked in Dundrum for years, haven’t been to Jamie’s but you might have sold it to me!”
