Ray Zylinksi and Kim Kroll from VIA (Visually Impaired Advancement) were the speakers at the Barker Lions Club’s March meeting. Zylinski started the evening explaining his history and how he became blind as a child. He next gave an overview of VIA. “There are many adaptive techniques we use. If someone is studying biology, we have a tactile representation of a cell. If someone needs life skills, we teach them to cook and clean,” he said. “We want every person out in the community and experiencing life.”

“Can’t isn’t a word in my vocabulary,” Zylinski explained. “The only task it relates to is driving. A blind person can’t drive. However, we can help you play soccer. Do you want to do woodworking? We will figure it out.”
