The iconic Custard Hut on Route 9 near Laurel Drive in Somers Point will kicked off its 49th season of serving frozen treats at the Jersey Shore on Friday.
The family-owned ice cream shop at 710 New Road is located located near the Garden State Parkway south exit for travelers headed to neighboring Ocean City.
The business offers 10 flavors of soft-serve ice cream, homemade premium hand-dipped ice cream, and homemade water ice. They also serves sundaes.

The shop was founded by Rich Plum and Lou DeScioli in 1977.
Today, Rich and Lucia Plum run the operation alongside their sons Jason and Justin, maintaining the shop as a multi-generation family enterprise.
Custard Hut operates two locations in the area, with the second shop in the Ocean View in Cape May County.
Both locations are open daily during the season.
The casual, family-friendly shop has become a staple in the local community, known for being kid-friendly and a classic local spot.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Saturday.
