The piping work on those flowers is seriously satisfying to look at. I’ve been making buttercream on a budget by using all butter instead of shortening, and honestly it tastes so much better for the extra few dollars. Your layers look perfectly level too, that’s where most people struggle with their first tiered cakes.

If you’re making this again, use Italian meringue buttercream instead of American, it holds up better in warm spring weather and piping details stay crisp longer. I switched to this method after my last cake started sweating at a birthday party. Do you seal your finished cake in the fridge before serving, or take it straight to the table?
