Had a birthday recently and opened up this beaut: Saint Cosme 2018 Cote-Rotie. Quite supple with well integrated tannins: medium + body, medium silky tannins, medium – acidity. Super aromatic nose of dark fruits, purple flowers, tobacco leaf. On the palate you get those same dark fruits with some olive tapenade, and black pepper spice on the tip of the tongue.

Guess I’ll need to find this

First bottle of Côte-Rôtie I ever had was Saint Cosme. As I was drinking it I said “I will never be the same…” and it’s true! By far my favorite appellation for Syrah. Literally everything I want from a glass of wine, all in one.

Fun fact: Forge Cellars’ winemaker and part owner is Louis Barruol of St-Cosme. Some of the best FLX wines, try to find the rare Pinot noir bottlings.

The first Saint Cosme Cote Rote I had was the 1985 vintage a few years ago and I was blown away. Drinks like such an expensive wine. Couldn’t believe the price point on these

    Sounds absolutely divine.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had Cote-Rotie. I’m more partial to Hermitage, but that could be due to lack of experience tasting Cote-Rotie. This sounds like a good one to seek out, as Saint Cosme makes excellent wine.
