Ham bean soup
jet_heller
If you’re not going to eat it all at once, I would freeze it in 1lb-2lb chunks.
MathyChem
Cut the ham off the bone and portion the remaining meat into 8 oz portions. I like adding it to bean heavy soups and stews. The bone is good for flavoring beans on its own. Edit: a word. Damn you autocorrect

Says its freezable so slice it and freeze it in 1lb portions mate

If it’s not currently frozen, I’d portion it into reasonable sizes and freeze those. If there’s concern about spoilage, I might cook it first.
If there’s a bone in it, that’s getting made into stock, portioned and frozen as needed.

I like fried rice as a use for leftover ham. Also can use in pasta dishes as a substitute for prosciutto or pancetta.

Ham freezes very well. Be sure to make up some baggies of it diced up, for adding to bean soup, omelets, salads, and pizza.

Could freeze it if ya don’t want to cook it now. It’s what I did when the shop near me had hams on sale during the holiday season for $0.59 cents a lbs. Could also eat half now, freeze the other half. Beans and ham are good together, cabbage and ham, split pea soup, casserole, old ham sandwiches. However ya decide to eat it. Hope you enjoy it

I’ll buy 2-4 at a time on sale regularly. Here’s what I do:
-Before freezing, cut the bones out. Butcher each into ~3-4 big chunks. Trim fat and tendon out. Set aside.
-Boil out the bones and scraps in a stock pot with veggies/herbs to make a ham stock. Reduce to a demiglace. Freeze into cubes. GREAT for tossing into veggies, rice, etc. Cheaper and better than stock from the store.
-Slice as many of the chunks as you can into ~1/8-1/4″ slices, if you have the working space, a good board, and a good long SHARP knife. Bag them into ziplock’s for your likely serving sizes. Freeze. Sliced can go into sandwiches, on its own, etc. Chopped up it can go into a fried rice/greens/beans easily as well.

Bake, dice, flash freeze on cookie sheets, transfer to ziplocks (suck the air out with a straw before sealing), keep frozen. Flash freezing means each piece gets frozen individually, so you’re not stuck trying to thaw a big hunk. You can toss handfuls of flash-frozen anything into hot rice, broth, stirfry, etc. No need to even pre-thaw if you’re adding it to other ingredients while cooking.
You can freeze the pan juice in an ice cube tray, pop into ziplocks, keep frozen and use for flavoring beans, rice, anything.
And of course, use the ham bone to make beans, pea soup, lentils, or broth.
Good find!

Cut it up and freeze it for different meals. Ex…bone for soup, slabs for steaks, chunks for adding to casseroles etc. I live alone now and that makes a huge difference in cooking for one

No such thing as too much ham. It’s cured. Just keep eating it. Sandwiches, breakfast ham, second breakfast ham. Lunch ham, ham and rice, rice and ham, green eggs and ham. You can’t lose!
PlatypusDream
It freezes well. Slice some, dice some, and package most of it to freeze.
Eggs, soups, potatos…
Beautiful-Bad5203
It’s already spiral sliced so you’d just need a few cuts to get most of the meat off to freeze. you can make some nice soup with the meat that remains on the bone after. Ham and potato soup always hits the spot.
Silly_Cheetah_706
Save a bit to eat as it is and then cut up the rest of the meat into pieces for meat add ins for casseroles
xikbdexhi6
Portion it and either freeze it or make jerky.
motherlymetal
Slice some for sandwiches, cubed/chopped for omelets, salads, and soup. Ham and beans if there is a bone.
StuffNThangs220
Use in omelettes; ham and cheese hot pockets (use refrigerated biscuits, split horizontally, and roll out or finger pat to preferred size, fill with ham and cheese; pinch edges to seal); stir into mac and cheese; cook with green beans, potatoes, and onions; the ubiquitous ham and beans; and ham and cheese pizza on a whole pita (using creamy Italian dressing as the base).
