Eaten in Turkey, Armenia and across Central Asia, manti are meat-filled dumplings, which can be boiled, steamed or baked. Hetty Lui McKinnon’s vegetarian manti is inspired by the Turkish version, here filled with herby mushrooms, and served with a sharp garlicky yogurt and a spiced tomato sauce. While traditional manti are small and made with a flour, egg, and olive oil dough, this recipe uses the shortcut of wonton wrappers, resulting in a more conventionally sized dumpling.

Lemme eat that rq
I've done my shopping and am prepared to make all kinds of dumplings. Too bad this hadn't aired a week earlier. I would have had a dumpling party.
Hetty Lui McKinnon you are a genius and a delight thank you
Thank you for the recipe! I've been wanting to try manti, but can no longer eat meat. I love mushrooms and can't wait to try this out. I plan on subbing garlic labne for the Greek yogurt.
As a Turkish woman, I want to correct you that in Türkiye, manti (no matter what is in it) is tiny, not big like in this video. I think your manti in this video is closer to the types of manti other Turkic countries such as Kazakhstan make. So, call it Turkic manti, not Turkish. I hope your channel gets a Turkish cook/chef who can make a proper Turkish manti with ground beef which is how it is supposed to be anyway.
These look delicious, but I think it would have been better to say they are "Turkish-inspired" rather than Turkish. It's not just that the filling is different; the shape is not very Turkish, the wrappers are not the same, they are far too big, and the sauce is not "saucy" enough. Again, I'm not saying that you shouldn't make these or show the recipe or that they wouldn't be good. But presenting it as though this is a Turkish recipe with one riff by the chef (the filling) is disingenuous. This is very clearly an East Asian dumpling. She doesn't even know how to say the word.
This reminds me of Turkish kebabs, but with dumplings and mushrooms. The best of Everything!!!! Thank you!!!!
the letter at the end of manti is not an I it's without a dot, and is pronounced like schwa, uh. mant-uh
The scarf tie of your shirt, going perilously close to the gas flame.
Love a good Turkish inspired dumpling! How fortunate are we to have so many wonderful dumplings from across the world to choose from. Hetty does it again! ❤️🐨🦘
The ONLY reason I'd make nine, or ten?? Is because one, or two, ain't making it to no plate! Dems fer da chef!! I'd add fish sauce of course.
I got Hetty Lui McKinnon's cookbook Tenderheart for Christmas last year. Every recipe I've tried is delicious.
Thank you for sharing this. I can’t eat red meat anymore and I love mushroom. I’ll try with cashew cream instead of yogurt. ❤
Finally a Vegetarian option. This looks great.
I loved Hetty and these look delicious w a bonus of being veg. I find the split screen distracting and annoying.
Being half Ukrainian in decent I never met a dumpling I have not liked…..I will definitely try these, somewhat different from the other manti I have in my cookbooks. Onions, garlic and mushrooms are a staple combo for me, and Greek yogurt in hundreds of ways is wonderful. Of course I am lost without some tomatoes too.
Sorry, but this is another NYT food crime. I’m Armenian and I’m sad for the Turks 😂
Bread baking…. might be the other smell.
