Josie’s Ristorante, the popular Italian-style restaurant near Boynton Beach’s waterfront, expects to open its new, much bigger location before tourism season starts in fall.
Josie’s owner Steve Setticasi, a general contractor, expects work to begin by the end of March on the new location 1.5 miles south of its current Woolbright Road establishment, and take about six months to complete, chef Mark Millitelo said.
While patrons wait for the new establishment to open, here are five things to know about Josie’s and its big upcoming move just north of the Delray Beach border.
Where will Josie’s new location be?
The new restaurant will be built at 3047 North Federal Highway.
The land is currently a vacant space of grass, weeds and trees. The city’s land zoning code allowed only residences to be built on it before City Commissioners on Feb. 10 approved changing it to commercial.
Where is Josie’s current restaurant?
Josie’s is in a shopping center on the southeast corner of Woolbright Road and Federal Highway. Its address is 650 East Woolbright Road.
How big will the new establishment be?
The new location, set for 5,500 square feet, will be a big upgrade from the current 3,000 square-foot building it rents
What will the new Josie’s have?
The new restaurant will feature more outdoor dining space and a takeout section separate from the main entrance.
The new place establishment look like a 1920s-style art deco lounge if the restaurant accepts such a design proposed to them by Miami-based Bigtime Design Studios. It will also feature an Italian market, Millitelo said, where customers can buy freshly baked bread, pizzas, cakes and other Italian-style cuisine.
Will Josie’s close while the new location goes up?
Josie’s aims to keep its current location open and running until the new restaurant opens its doors.
