Fresh Express BB #:115030 delivers innovation to produce aisles this fall with the launch of its newest Chopped Kit: Mediterranean Herb, hitting shelves nationwide on September 24, 2025.
The company calls its latest salad “a fresh take on one of the fastest-growing flavor profiles in the country—Mediterranean is the No. 7 flavor nationally and growing 30 percent year-over-year.”
The salad kit is a mix of kale, green cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, and green leaf lettuce, topped with crispy chickpeas and creamy feta, and finished with a zesty lemon and oregano vinaigrette.
Fabian Pereira, Vice President of Marketing told Blue Book that Fresh Express offers more than 25 chopped salad kit varieties.
“Each one is carefully developed to deliver a unique flavor experience with high-quality ingredients and convenient prep,” he said. “The range includes everything from fan-favorite classics to globally inspired blends, so there’s something for everyone.”
Pereira said chopped kits are now the largest segment in the value-added salad category, growing from just 5 percent in 2014 to over 23 percent today.
Fresh Express commands 22.4 percent of its sales from Chopped Kits, with Chopped Caesar ranking as the No.12 item in the entire value-added salad category at $64 million in annual sales, he said.
“Chopped salads hit that sweet spot of flavor, freshness, and ease,” Pereira said. “Consumers want meal options that feel exciting but don’t require a lot of time in the kitchen, and these kits deliver a mix of premium greens, toppings, and dressings in one convenient bag.”
He said Fresh Express tracks consumer trends and “Mediterranean cuisine continues to rise in popularity, now the 7th most popular flavor trend nationwide and growing at a rate of 30 percent. With this launch, we’re bringing globally inspired, restaurant-quality flavors to the produce aisle in a way that’s completely effortless—no prep needed. It’s just one more way we’re innovating to meet evolving consumer tastes while making mealtime easier than ever.”
