Les Délices French Bakery in Rockville has announced it will reopen Tuesday, March 17 following the recent death of its longtime owner and pastry chef Harry Kazanjian.

The family owned bakery shared the update with customers as it prepares to resume operations while continuing to adjust after the loss. Kazanjian died Sunday, March 1, 2026 after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Norbeck Road and Avery Road in Rockville.

Kazanjian spent nearly four decades serving the community through Les Délices, which opened in 1987 and became known for its French pastries, cakes, and specialty desserts. The bakery said he dedicated 38 years to crafting desserts for customers across the Washington region, including signature cakes such as Hazelnut Crunch, Mango Passion Pistachio, and Lychee Guava, along with a wide range of gluten free pastries.

The bakery shared the following message with customers announcing the reopening:

“Dear Customers, Friends, and Beloved Community,
We have decided to reopen beginning Tuesday March 17, 2026. During this time of transition, we will be operating with a few temporary modifications.
We kindly ask that you place orders online 24 hours in advance of pickup if possible, so we can best prepare for you.
The store will still be open for walk-in purchases during the window of 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Online order pickup will be available from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
If you are able to place your order at least 24 hours in advance, it will help us as we adjust to our new normal 🙏 we are so grateful for our uplifting community. Thank you for all your love and support.
With love & gratitude,
The Les Delices French Bakery Family”

The bakery said the temporary adjustments are intended to help the team manage operations as they transition following Kazanjian’s passing while continuing to serve customers. Les Délices has long operated as a family business, with multiple family members involved in running the shop over the years.
