The Principality of Monaco will host the Michelin Guide’s annual star ceremony for the first time toda, March 16, bringing together leading figures of French gastronomy at the Grimaldi Forum.
Each year, the famous Michelin Guide selects a different destination to stage its prestigious awards ceremony.
For the 2026 edition, Monaco was chosen for its long-standing relationship with the guide and its exceptional concentration of high-level restaurants.
A historic link with the Michelin Guide
According to Michelin Guide international director Gwendal Poullennec, Monaco has been part of the guide’s story since the very beginning, having already appeared in its first edition in 1900.
For more than a century, Michelin inspectors have closely followed the development of the Principality’s culinary scene, which has played an important role in shaping the reputation of the Riviera as a destination for fine dining.

A remarkable concentration of starred restaurants
Monaco stands out for its high density of Michelin-starred restaurants.
Within just 208 hectares, the Principality currently has eight starred establishments, making it one of the most concentrated gastronomic destinations in the world.
Across the wider French Riviera, the culinary scene also remains strong, with 26 Michelin-starred restaurants in the Alpes-Maritimes.
A global spotlight on Monaco’s gastronomy
The ceremony will bring together chefs and restaurateurs from across France, who will discover whether their restaurants have earned, kept or gained Michelin stars this year.
Beyond the awards themselves, the event is expected to place Monaco and the French Riviera firmly in the international spotlight, celebrating a region known for its unique blend of luxury hospitality and Mediterranean culinary heritage.
