One night trip to NYC, and hit up eight slice shops in Manhattan. I really just wandered around the aresa I happened to be in and got a slide in places that I had not had before. Here are my thoughts on each, in order.
- Famous Original Ray’s Pizza – Good, typical, NYC slice. This one was a big cheese forward and tasted really good.
- Abitinos Pizza – This one was pretty evenly balanced between crust, sauce, and cheese. Tasty.
- MR Pizza – This slice had a spicy flavor to it, that I could not place. Different, but good.
- Sal’s Pizza – This was delicious, and had the nicest folks working there. Very, very, good slice.
- Green Oven Pizza – This was very cheese forward and was somewhat undercooked. This was OK but nothing to write home about.
- iPizzaNY – Pretty heavy on the cheese. Good slice all around.
- LA Pizza – Good slice, nicely balanced. Very good all around.
- 2 Bros Pizza – One bite and this one went in the trash. Don’t waste your time or money.

Love your work 🍕
So jealous. My mouth is watering
Well? Who is the winner?
It’s been 14 years and 100 days since I’ve a an authentic New York slice… I’m jealous.
Cheese. The standard and my favorite.
My first stop in NYC would have to be the pizzeria from TMNT 2. That intro with all of NY munchin on pizza plays in my head anytime I get a craving.
edit: found it [Roma Pizza](https://maps.app.goo.gl/cTogvreyEuJ2LoFV7)
You gotta go to some better places young blood lol.
Thank you so much for your effort and post, but damn did you hit a patch of complete blah pizzerias not a single one of them is a respected spot, but I respect the hustle only way to find the next hidden gem by actually getting your toes in the water
I would like to eat pic 12 right now
Someone needs to do a tour exclusively of “Ray’s” shops. 🙃

I hope that everyone in this sub is looking carefully. Because those are photos of NY pizza. 99.9% of what people post here claiming is NY pizza is not. NY pizza is a crust stretched as thin as possible, flat at the edge, the least amount of cheese and tomato sauce possible and sprinkling of dried “italian” herbs under the cheese. It gets cooked as a whole pizza, cooled to room temp and cut into slices, then re-heated to order in the hot deck oven by the slice which crisps the bottom of the crust and causes the butter to separate from the cheese so there are pools of red tinted butter floating on top, served on a paper plate with a piece of wax paper. NY pizza is designed to be as cheap as possible to make money.
I feel like you went to all of the worst places lmao

They all look the same. Maybe a bit more cheese here or a bit more char there but whats the difference in any of them
I love this…
You didn’t stop at Sbarro?!
That particular Ray’s Pizza makes good pie!
Sinple, plain slices. Perfection.
Kevin McCallister approves this.
Is it just me or do none of these look great
Only #3 looks appetizing to me :/
Rays is my favorite of the places I’ve been to
Hell yes, looks like a great time. Good on you for not going out of your way for the “best” and just grabbing whatever was nearby. All my favorite places from everywhere I’ve lived were little no-name spots nearish my normal routes, and I feel strongly that is how you fall in love with a place.
Last time I was in NYC I grabbed a slice at the place I walked by, turned out to be Prince St. pizza and I fucking loved it.
Dude, some people are giving you a hard time because there are better spots, but it’s kind of hard to find a bad slice shop in NY. 2 Bros is still mostly better than sold outside of NY unless you live in NJ or eastern PA.
