I have vastly underestimated the spiciness of Korean food
It's my first time trying Tteokbokki and I'm not sure I can finish.
I owe you an apology. I was not really familiar with your game.

they make those instant tteokbokki’s in a not spicy flavor! there is usually a bunch of kits where the spice level is close to nothing
signed, a korean who can’t handle full spice buldak

Come on, not all Koreans can eat that up like me. There were some tricks to soothen that hot taste but I can’t remember now.

Buldak is serious stuff
Infinite-Fig-194
What you ate isn’t normal spicyness in Korean though.

What you ate is spicy for Koreans, considerably. Korean food is spicy/spicier than some other foods, but Buldak’s whole thing is spicy spicy. They make their stuff extra, extra spicy.

those have such good flavor!

It’s not that bad lol
Sheep_Slayer_6
Thats the extra spicy version!
Effective_Tackle_195
Lol. I have made the exact opposite remark. People always say its spicy but it never really is.

I don’t find Korean food particularly spicy. It’s just the breadth of things that ARE spicy gives it that reputation. Most of the “spicy” stuff in cheap restaurants is also loaded with sugar, sans things like kimchi.
Spiciest I’ve had is probably Sri Lankan or Thai!

Does Buldak tteokbokki tastes good ?

You have to avoid the black packaging! 😂

You just have a low level on spice tolerance. That isn’t spicy at all. It’s like not even Serrano level on Scoville. Don’t let these fools gas light you saying it’s korean spicy. Wtf does that even mean? It is nonsense that people just make up. You can level up spice over time. Keep eating it and watch in a few months it wont even bother you.

Regular tteokbokki is nowhere near as spicy as buldak
Fairycharmd
Asian spicy is NOT equivalent White people (read redneck spicy) or Mexican spicy.
different peppers different effect
Same toilet. Different pain.
It’s always a hard lesson than the first time but it’s one everybody needs to learn

How much water did you put in it? Maybe that was the issue? Props to you for trying though.

Korean spicy is next level for most non-Koreans.

Well, I’m not surprised. Buldak is extremely spicy, even for Koreans. You’re only supposed to start with a drop of the sauce. Literally, a drop.

Sadly Buldak is just too spicy for me, I’m more of a Shin girl

i just know this hits different with a side of kimchi
gljulock88
Yea, i find Buldak uncomfortably spicy.

korean food in general is not spicy. gochugaru or gochujang (made of gochugaru) that is used everywhere for spiciness is less spicier than jalapeno. SEA or chinese cuisines have way spicier dishes

What you ate isn’t Korean food it’s toxic waste

Korean food isn’t normally that spicy. That brand in particular is known to make everything overly spicy, but even regular buldak, which is like a cheesy spicy chicken dish, isn’t typically that bad.

Just have to build a tolerance my guy. I thought the 1x spicy noodles were hot to start with, but now I eat the 2x spicy at least once a week and they don’t even raise a sweat anymore 🙂
