Hermons hype makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills. So mediocre.

I enjoyed it, but agree that the hype is a little nuts. For instance, in terms of recentish eastside openings, I thought Betsy in Altadena was much better.

Disappointed to find out rasarumah is hospitality group.

I have no dined there yet but absolutely enjoy this honest review. Thank you for being a rad foodie who honestly cares about taste and experience not just hype.

Went there for the first time last week. Had the tuna crudo, tartare, vongole, steak frites.. food was pretty mid. But for a dinner for 4 prices weren’t too crazy. They did do a really nice job with the decor inside and it was a fun social experience.. just not a good food experience

I live down the street and went a couple months back. It was fine but the hype is crazy. I guess that restaurant group has great marketing. Way too much shaved parm on multiple dishes. Really beautiful restaurant but not itching to rush back.

Honestly I find all their restaurants pretty mid.

I’m always eager to read “Honest” reviews and read some tactful criticism. I also did not have a meal that matched the hype. I’ve had dinner twice here and it was…okay.
Space is great – the bar reminds me of Cheers with the big square shape so you can see people across and then the glasses hanging above. Ambience is vibrant and not douchey. Honestly, this part was great.
The food was almost good. Just didn’t match the good vibes.
Stuff I tried: Chopped Chicories salad – thrown off that the dressing was a little sweet and I got bored eating it if that makes sense.
Zucchini & Burrata – my favorite of the bunch. Probably because I like zucchini and pesto but I never understood eating whole filets of anchovies. Too intense.
Steak tartare – I actually like the no-mayo move here but the goji berry’s sweetness was just weird. The chips were some of the worst chips I’ve ever had. Looked great but annoyingly hard and unsalted. The beef itself was good and portion was big.
Ragu Bolognese – seemed too homemade. Underwhelming because the sauce was thin, sparse and…not rich. A little sweet again. Pasta itself was nice.
Two sheet vongole – It looked crispy but surprisingly soft. Filling was really rich and cheesy. Not bad.
Cheeseburger – great flavors but it really didn’t hit. Wish the fondue was thicker and the patty was too dry for me. Also, I don’t understand milk bread burger buns. Always seems crumbly. Potato bun all the way.
Skillet cookie – can’t lose. Ice cream over a fresh baked cookie. Tbh – I wanted a better cookie.
N/A Celery Spritz – just okay. Didn’t really do anything for me.
Vermouth on the rocks – this was great. Loved the orange slice.
Didn’t mean to go full review but I’m always curious what dishes people had and what their opinion was.
Overall, there’s not any dishes I would intentionally go back for. I haven’t lost hope yet. It’s early and it could get better.

Interesting that honest is in the title.

Interesting review… still excited to check it out.
Honestly, I just realized that, yes, food is absolutely important to the dining experience… but I also love visiting restaurants for a sense of community and Last Word has done such a brilliant job making the dining experience at all their locations so warm and welcoming.
No matter how far I’ve traveled to one of their restaurants, I always feel like I’m visiting my local spot.

Accurate review! Also had an underwhelming experience here and am still annoyed about it. Burger not good.
