Excellent vintage sardines from La Compagnie Bretonne. Honestly, this is the first tin I’ve tried from this cannery.
After being so impressed by the 2022 La Belle-Iloise, I was on the search for more vintage sardines. As luck would have it, La Compagnie Bretonne not only has them available online, but they also offer free shipping to Germany for larger orders.
The sardines are juicy yet firm and by that, I mean not mushy at all. The flavor is very clean, slightly buttery, refined, well rounded, and full bodied. Today, I enjoyed them best with just plain sourdough bread. Green Tabasco didn't really add much here, but a non-spicy Japanese chili crisp was a marvelous match. It does distract a bit from the incredible quality of the sardines themselves, but the combination still tastes amazing.

Such a pretty tin I’d be tempted to save it lol
They look delicious and the graphics on the can look great.
You do know the definition of vintage I hope? 4 years old can is not vintage, you can say it’s an ‘aged’ can but it’s not vintage.
