CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) – The Cooking in Central festival takes place this weekend.
The free event features family activities, live music, and area food. It kicked off on Thursday, March 26, with student day, and continues through Saturday night, March 28.

The festival was established in 2006 to raise funds after Hurricane Katrina. The inaugural event helped purchase three school buses for the St. Bernard Parish School System.
