A recent post here—despite its misleading photo—reminded me of the pancakes I’d last had in the 1970s when I visited Japan. So yesterday when I was driving by the Farmer’s Market, I turned on Wilshire to stop for lunch at Takagi’s, as I had noted them many months ago. It was not crowded and tastefully appointed. I ordered the simplest basic Japanese pancakes, seen here. The principal difference in flavor was their rich eggy taste. With butter and whipped cream, there was scarcely any need for syrup. Coffee was also excellent.
