This is my first time baking for cake4kids, they’re an organization that allows you to volunteer and bake for youth who don’t have access to treats on special occasions. My kid requested brownies and I had so much fun making them😄🙏. Definitely recommend signing up if you love baking, have the means and some extra time!

    This is how I got into cake decorating! The letters and videos (of older 18+ foster kids) I’d get back from the kids was not expected or necessary but really moving

    THIS IS SO GREAT! I wanted to also add there is a group that does the same thing called LasagnaLove so you get to make lasagnas for a family. I can’t afford to do it super often but it’s always really nice to make a meal for a family in need. Thanks for sharing about this org as well!     Beautiful! I’m delivering my first Cake4Kids cake tomorrow! I’m a retired teacher, and I’ve had loads of kids who were in the system, so this just hits all my sweet spots. 🥰

    so lovely OP! anyone else who wants to do something like this but doesn’t have a chapter of this specific org near you, get in touch with your local foster care orgs, or domestic violence and youth homeless shelters, I’m sure they would be happy to provide some special birthday treats for their kiddos (and grown-ups!)

    the DV shelter I worked at would go all-out for mother’s day as most of those moms had literally risked their lives for their kids. having a couple of fancy cakes baked with love would have made a wonderful addition to the festivities! ours were just donated by safeway lol.
