Is this a good color for a 36 years old Sauternes? I was offered to buy it but I have doubts.

I would say it’s well past it’s best. Worth looking at the same wine on Hedonism’s website, far more rust coloured than black. Avoid.

Wow, veeeery dark. I’ve had 1926 Sauternes and it was not that black. I’d try, though, depending on the price.

I feel like this bottle might’ve been oxidized? I might be wrong but I feel like this is way darker than a 36 year old Sauternes should be. I’d expect a more…idk, amber color? 🤔

As others have said it looks oxidised, but the fill level is higher than i would have thought for something this colour from oxidation. The other contrubiting factors could be (just guessing) is that exessive light damage can make white wines a lot darker. Maybe some heat damage as well? Does there look like there’s any seepage around the cork?
Probably a combination of all the above! Avoid

No. I’ve seen 60’s Sauternes with better color than that. Hard pass.
