I am working in the 52 weeks of baking and the week was Reuse a family recipe or old recipe.
I was thinking about what recipe to use and my husband pointed at the wall. Ummm duh! It was literally right in front of me.
These were the copycat of Jumer’s cinnamon rolls. Jumer’s was a popular hotel where I grew up (Midwest US). It was where you went to dinner for special occasions. It was THE place where you dressed up. My mom got the recipe and would make these cinnamon rolls for us at home for all holidays.
When myself and my siblings were out of the house she gave us a handwritten copy. When she passed, I made it into custom wallpaper in our kitchen. My mom was a stellar baker and I miss her. I have made these from time to time for my family but it’s been a few years. It felt so good to make them today.
I thought this group would appreciate.

Looks so yummy, and I love the tribute to your mom!
This seriously made me tear up. What a tribute to your mom! Her printing is very artful.
What about from the window to the wall…?
Sorry, it was right there so I had to. They look great though and I’ll probably try them soon. 🫡
Love me some Jumer’s rolls…such great memories. My copycat recipe doesn’t use Bisquick and they don’t taste quite the same as I remember from Jumer’s. I’m excited to try this one!
So appreciate you sharing!
I love all of this. Thanks for the smile.
Thank you! 😊 Can’t wait to make these the next time I have overnight guests!
As someone from eastern Iowa / western Illinois you just unlocked a core childhood memory.
The number of animal mounts on the walls at jumers always freaked me out a bit as a child.
The piano player at sunday brunch. The whole smoked fish. Place was a whole vibe.
Oh my god, I haven’t thought about Jumer’s hotel in years. That place was so cool as a little kid.
And those rolls were amazing.
I stopped there with my family once on a road trip just so they could get a box of cinnamon rolls. I had never heard of the place and I don’t think I had any of the rolls but I remembered the building. It was Christmas time and beautiful.
Thank you for solving the mystery for me! These are going on my To Be Baked list.
I do not have bisquick. But I am making these tonight!!!
Very sweet memory.
I have never made cinnamon rolls in my life. They’ve always intimidated me. I would like to try these today, as I have all of the ingredients on hand. I’ve only ever eaten cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. Do you miss the frosting at all?
i would love to try to make these, thank you so much for sharing with us! 💓🫶
Jumers was sooo cool to my childhood mind! Thanks for the memory!
Beautiful tribute! At first I thought it was one of those whiteboard walls, and you were writing the instructions to remember. Because I would do that.
They look good and I definitely want to try them. Is the electrical outlet blocking a word?
That is absolutely fabulous. I mean, what a tribute. It’s got me thinking about what recipe I have that I could translate to the wall.
Awww I didn’t expect the baking sub to be the Reddit sub that made me tear up today but hear we are. Thank you for recounting, saving to make because of the lovely image
