I have had this unused cereal container that has been taking up space for a while. Turns out to be pretty decent sous-vide container for smaller cooks.

Thank you for your picture post to r/sousvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

    Thank you!!

I applaud the outside of the (cereal) box thinking

Wrap it in some insulation like recycled bubble wrap mailers for extra DIY points.

It’s a great form factor, mildly genius. Love it when things work out like that.

I used to have something like this for sous vide. And because the plastic doesn’t handle heat well, after a while, it got brittle and cracked. Made a massive mess so monitor the plastic. It took probably 30 cycles

Yeah, as another comment said, I wouldn’t count on that holding up to heat very well long term.

You want something rated for the sous vide heat if you don’t want a big oopsie surprise.

That plastic isn’t made to handle heat. You’re asking for trouble

This is what I almost exclusively use for sous vide
