This was my very first time baking a cake, and luckily it turned out well 🙂 My mother was very surprised!! 😀 I wanted to make a little pool on top (the store was out of blue/green jelly ;-;) with tiny fishes inside, but they ended up looking more like stingrays lol. I also make art but first time making an edible one! 😄

Oh they are fishes! I thought they were, but I thought I must be seeing things. How inventive!

honestly way more memorable than a clean bakery cake, this got character

I love how much effort you put in and everything that’s going on with it!! I’m sure your mom loved it 😁 fantastic job!

That’s impressive for a first-time bake, especially turning a jelly shortage into stingray art—your mom must’ve loved it.

very good job! the ring of green reminds me of how water plants cluster at the shores of ponds!

Better than anything I could do…I can’t decorate to save my life a cake

  7. Hey, this is really really cool I liked it

I love this. It’s unique and catches the eye, without trying to be one of those often bland-tasting engineered sculptures that have become the standard for cake aesthetics. Your joy at this seeps through, reading your words. Great job!

So much character! I know I would appreciate this deeply. well done! Your mom must be very proud

This is great, especially for a first try. Very artistic. And I’m sure your Mom appreciated it. Around here (rural area), a bakery cake means Walmart or the local grocery store and they are pretty, but not particularly tasty.

My first cake for my wife I wrote “happy birthday” on it but it was still a little warm and it all just slid off to one side.

    What was the flavor?

    Great first attempt!

Your first time baking and decorating a cake? This is amazing. I’m enjoying all the colours and details!!

This honestly makes me inspired to bake something. It looks fresh and summery and inviting.

  20. I have been making cakes since 5 years old and I think I’d have a mental breakdown trying to recreate this, that’s seriously impressive

It’s beautiful! As a mom, I’d be so freaking stoked if my kid surprised me with this. You put a lot of hard work into it

This is such a thoughtful gift😊 beyond being aesthetically pleasing, it’s genuinely beautiful to see someone do something so sweet and personal for their parent. I mean really, seeing anyone put that much effort into a gift for someone they care for is super heart warming. 🥲🫶11/10

Whoa! This thing is ambitious, slightly chaotic, delicious looking, and badass! I hope everyone was suitably simultaneously impressed and amused by its unique slightly terrifying beauty 😀!

There’s a lot going on. And I mean that in the best way possible!!

The signs of you being a natural are there. You have a lot of promise if you keep making cakes! .

Its not-too-perfect finish gives the cake a rustic charm, making it feel especially cozy. I love it.

Lava sharks!!! This turned out really cute! No way could I do something this intricate on a first try!

You’re much better at decorating than I’ll ever be(I gave up on decorating lol).

Are you an artist? cause if not, that’s even more impressive.

Can’t wait to see more of your cakes in future and how much you improve.

  33. Looks great! I can’t help with the decorating (as my cakes mostly look like crime scenes). But I got the cake part down pat!

In the future if you want to up your cake game, adjust the box cake ingredients. Instead of oil, use melted butter. Instead of water, use milk. Add one extra egg. Add a box of similar flavored instant pudding and a half cup of milk. This will make your cake moist, rich, and delicious.
