The first three PDO and PGI recipes have been defined

The first three recipes that will be presented to the public have already been defined. The debut will be a sandwich combining Prosciutto di Carpegna Dop, Burrata di Andria IGP and Terra di Bari Dop extra virgin olive oil. A second recipe will highlight the combination of Capocollo di Martina Franca, Burrata di Andria IGP and Toscano IGP olive oil, while a third will celebrate Mozzarella di Gioia del Colle DOP combined with Basil Basil pesto Genovese DOP.

“At Autogrill,” commented Avolta’s CEO Italy, Massimiliano Santoro, “we are committed to offering travellers products rooted in the values of our culture. The partnership with Qualivita transforms the excellence of PDO and PGI raw materials into a pillar of the offer. The aim is to gradually export this authenticity globally: to share the Italia lifestyle through our international network’.

Initiative also promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fipe

“Origin Edition,” commented the director of the Qualivita Foundation, Mauro Rosati, “is a project with a long-term vision, designed to build a platform capable of enhancing the value of PDO and PGI products in travel catering in a continuous and consistent manner. The sandwich represents one of the most immediate and popular symbols of Italian gastronomy and, thanks to the use of PDO and PGI ingredients, it can also become a tool for telling the story of territories, capable of guiding travellers to the discovery of quality products and also reinforcing their attractiveness to tourists’.

‘This initiative,’ concluded the president of Fipe-Confcommercio, Lino Enrico Stoppani, ‘represents a concrete and virtuous example of how collaboration between companies, institutions and the system of protection consortia can significantly strengthen the competitiveness of Made in Italy’.
