Tucked behind Woking railway station is a cosy bistro that will remind you of a Parisian restaurant. Côte in Commercial Way specialises in French cuisine making you feel like you’ve gone on a European holiday without having to leave the UK.
The modern yet relaxed dining room has romantic tables for two, secluded booths and larger seating areas for parties. This autumn, Côte launched a new set menu designed by executive chef Steve Allen who has previously worked alongside Gordon Ramsay at his Michelin-starred restaurants including London’s iconic Claridges and Petrus.
The new menu is all about delicious dishes at a great value price including smoked salmon fish cake, pear and walnut salad, carrot and roasted squash soup and a charcuterie board as starters. For mains, customers can enjoy seabass rouge, steak frites, poulet grille and roasted butternut squash with lentils.

Coinciding with the change of the season, the tasty dishes are humble and comforting – perfect for the chillier and darker days ahead. As for the desserts on the fixed-price menu, there is a choice of plum clafoutis, chocolate mousse, crepe au chocolat and ice creams and sorbet.
The great value menu is available from Monday to Friday, 12pm-7pm excluding bank holidays, with two courses costing £16.95, and three courses at £20.95. A Côte spokesperson said: “In France, almost every restaurant offers a set menu prix fixe which is all about fine French cuisine at affordable prices.
“The new Côte Prix Fixe menu has been designed to offer an affordable upgrade to dreary office lunches. Great food at affordable prices.”

What to expect at Cote in Woking
The stylish restaurant has outdoor seating with blankets should you want to dine alfresco. But in the evenings, the eatery is buzzing with indoor diners escaping the autumn chill with a robust and hearty meal.
If you’re looking for a real winter warmer, opt for carrot and roasted squash soup. It’s vegan friendly, and drizzled with parsley oil and served with toasted sourdough (gluten-free option available). The wholesome bowl of goodness is jam-packed with vitamin C and ultra cosy.
An all-time classic at Cote is steak frites and it’s available on the set menu. The well-seasoned minute steak comes with fresh rocket, garlic butter and salty fries. Guests can upgrade to an 8oz sirloin for an additional £3.50 or triple-cooked truffle chips for an extra £1.
The vegetarian main option is roasted butternut squash sitting on a bed of braised lentils in a tomato Provençal sauce, topped with harissa and coconut yoghurt – another soul-warming dish.
