COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Three local chefs battled it out in front of a live audience, turning food that’s commonly found in food pantries into gourmet dishes.

The 2nd annual ‘Pantry to Plate’ challenge brought out dozens to watch local celebrity judges crown a winner on Thursday.

While the event is a fun way to see how to use everyday ingredients in creative ways, “[it’s] all about helping make sure that the Brazos Valley Food Bank can continue it’s mission of serving the Brazos Valley and making sure that the tens of thousands of people across the six different counties in the Brazos Valley receive the services that they need,” said Katie Egan with the Brazos Valley Food Bank.

Blake Zietman was crowned this year’s champion and an estimated $80,000 was raised for the foodbank.
