Pickled Mussels

Saw these and decided to give them a try. I always wanted to try fresh, cooked mussels, but these came about first and they're cheap.

They used to be a popular pub snack here in the UK at one point, alongside cockles.

They're tasty, slightly firm, and velvety texture. I thought they would be overpoweringly pungent, but they aren't. Slightly fishy but more fresh, briny, and "ocean-like", kind of like seaweed with the mussel having a light flavour.

When you open the can it literally smells like being at the seaside!

They don't look appealing, but they taste nice and pair well with beer
