An additional suspect was arrested Wednesday following a November explosion outside a Las Vegas restaurant, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Robert Schwieger, 52, was arrested on three felony charges related to a Nov. 13, 2025, explosion at Piero’s Italian Cuisine, a popular off-Strip restaurant at 355 Convention Center Dr., near East Desert Inn and Paradise roads.
Metro, through a news release, said Schwieger was charged with conspiracy to commit arson, first-degree arson, and a third charge related to the use of explosives to damage or destroy property.
According to online Clark County Detention Center records, Schwieger remained in custody at the jail as of Thursday night. Bail had been set at $250,000, records showed.
Metro said a “suspicious item” was left near the restaurant, causing a small explosion the morning of Nov. 13. No injuries were reported.
The device, according to police, ignited and burned for a couple of minutes before it exploded, causing damage to the restaurant’s building.
Video released by the Clark County District Court from that morning showed two people approach the restaurant, one on foot and one on a scooter. One placed a dark object in front of the door to the business. The two then fled before the device exploded, which happened at about 2:20 a.m.
Clark County grand jurors later indicted 35-year-old John Navarro, 34-year-old Sarah Hernandez and 54-year-old Phillip Gonzales in connection with the explosion. Joseph Gutierrez, 18, was arrested in Arizona on multiple arson-related charges. A prosecutor also said a boy had also been arrested, the Las Vegas Review-Journal previously reported.
The bomb could have “burned Piero’s to the ground” had it been configured differently, Chief Deputy District Attorney Michael Schwartzer said in court.
