Okay total newbie from the Netherlands here, but I finally got my kettle! I just assembled it, but there are 2 black things that you have to put inside the kettle, but they don't stand up straight. What is their purpose and how do I place them?

Also, maybe a dumb question, but the lower grate is for placing the briquettes right?

Can't wait to put some burgers on this badboy!

Those are charcoal rails. You can put them on the lower grate to contain the charcoal.

  2. Those replaced the charcoal baskets. Private equity shits the bed again.

Those things are crap. Find a set of baskets on marketplace if you think you might need them.

They are for holding the charcoal to the sides so you can do indirect cooks. Hang on to them. Weber no longer offers them. I have a set. love them.

    *sigh*

Once again, the rails have been around for about 50 years and are superior to the baskets. They’re adjustable on the lower grate, better airflow, and they absolutely never wear out.

Easier to ask reddit than look in the manual they include…

Isn’t that for metric charcoal as an adapter???

Just get a couple fire bricks if you don’t like them. Cheaper and better than getting the baskets or SnS

  9. Charcoal Rails are the greatest thing ever for the Weber Kettle. I’ve gone through at least a dozen since my first Kettle in 1982
