Name: Seonhwadang (Hangul: 선화당)
Address: 11, Samseong-ro 104-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Business Hours: 10 AM – 10 PM ( Breaktime: 3 PM – 5 PM)
Open during weekdays only

I had an overseas guest in Korea, and suddenly, one of their morning meetings got canceled. At around 11:10 AM, I get a call:

So yeah…
A lot of requests. Very little time.

Luckily, my gym trainer had mentioned Seonhwadang (선화당) before, and honestly, it felt like it fell from the sky.

We went for the 120,000 KRW course, and the experience was very well structured:

  • A creamy soup to start (depends on the day, it can be either pumpkin or potato soup)
  • A series of small dishes (mainly vegetables and various seasonal ingredients)
  • Main dishes:
    • We went for the 120g sirloin steak (there are 90g & 150g options as well).
  • A traditional Korean set (rice, soup, and side dishes)
  • Dessert: two types of tteok (kind of rice cakes), candied walnuts (my favorite!), and tea

What stood out to me wasn’t just the food, but how well everything flowed.

It’s not a big, flashy restaurant.
The menu isn’t endless.
And that’s exactly why it works.

It creates a focused, calm experience where you can actually enjoy each dish without feeling overwhelmed.

If you’re a meat lover who wants to experience a Korean-style fine-dining approach without the heaviness or spiciness, this place really delivers.

I especially liked how they balanced simplicity and refinement.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, yet the food and service are clearly high-level.

It feels premium but not intimidating.

And honestly, the biggest relief?

Everyone enjoyed it (thank god!)

Finding a place like this on short notice, with such specific requirements, felt incredibly lucky.

Afterward, I checked Naver (the Korean version of Google) and realized this is a relatively new spot, as I couldn’t find reviews going back beyond early 2026.

Given how competitive the restaurant scene is in Korea, I think Seonhwadang deserves more attention.
