Excuse me for the minimal tasting notes, I’m new.
Le Ragnaie BdM 2017 – Beautiful wine. Had it with a mushroom risotto and lamb. Took some time to open up. Didn’t get a lot of the earthy notes that has been described, but they got through sometimes. Strong notes of tobacco, some wet forrest ground, quite hot in the mouth, raisins, spices like cinnamon, red fruit, nicely resolved tannins.
Van Hamersveld 2017 (Shiraz/Merlot/Pinotage): Absolutely loved this, actually more up my alley than the BdM. I picked up coffee notes very strongly. This happened to me with a Merlot last week too. It might because I’m heavily into coffee and developed a little bit of a pallet for it. Other people pick it up too with the Van Hamersveld, so I’m not totally crazy. Can’t speak too much about other flavours, I was too busy being in love with this wine.
Adeus: I didn’t drink it on my b’day, but my gf did. And it’s a fantastic cheap wine, so I want to talk about it. Heavy aroma of apple, little bit of pear. Really balanced in the mouth, great acidity, apple, pear, lemon, some melon. Very refreshing. Can be bought for €4,50 per bottle around here and the PQR is bonkers.
