So I saw a video of a Korean being shocked the soups come with avocado in Mexico. She thought they were joking.

Is it not a thing in Korea (or even Asia)?
We also make oxtail soup with veggies and add lots of avocado (and even white cheese) and it’s one of my favorite dishes.

I’m not even korean and I have never heard of avocado in soup. I think its only wherever you are from, op.
Avocados aren’t native to Korea. Spent many years in Korea and never seen an avocado in the market place, mind you this was 1999 to 2007. They are getting imported now but traditionally avocados aren’t in korean food.
This video is showing a cultural difference with food. Avocado isn’t a typical ingredient in Korean cuisine, but in Mexico it’s put on a lot of things from tacos to soups, or even eaten by itself with chile and lime.
Never heard of avocado in a soup where I am from!
I’ve had avocado in Mexican and South & Central American soups & stews, but haven’t seen it in traditional soups from other cuisines.
