There is a place in Neptune, NJ called Pete & Elda’s Bar and Carmen’s Pizzeria that has this ridiculously thin crust pizza, and a sort of (easy) contest to eat an XXL pie and get a t-shirt. When I was a kid, we used to go there every month or so to get a new T-shirt for fun. This is the closest I’ve gotten to recreating the nostalgia, having moved away from there about 20 years ago.
I know I’ll get s**t, but I’m not huge on exact measurements lol. Here’s what I did: (using mobile so formatting may be bad)
1. Just over one cup unbleached all purpose flour 2. 1/2 tsp salt (I may have used more) 3. 1/4 tsp baking powder (this should be pretty close) Mix together in a bowl.
Separately mix
1. 6 tbsp water 2. 2 tbsp oil (I used canola cuz it’s what I have) 3. 1/2 tsp sugar
Mix all together then knead briefly, let sit under a towel while the stone heats up. Add the sauce and cheese and cook for 8-9 minutes.
