This video covers 3 easy and simple methods I am using in the vegetable garden this growing season to effective double the growing space of specific areas of the garden. All three methods are working fantastically and I want to share them with you so you can begin implementing them in your kitchen garden. Nothing in more rewarding than growing our own food, and if we can squeeze in extra than that is always a bonus, some techniques make little improvements but this video is about the techniques that make noticeable impacts to the productivity of your vegetable garden.

  1. Another great video Huw. As a matter of interest due you grow onions from sets and if so what variety.

  2. Hi, I am from Pakistan (so pardon my weak English) and about start half an acre experimental permaculture garden, fruit, vegetables, herbs and such. And research for that take me to your channel and your beautiful garden, which I am in complete awe of. It looks like a dream and most fascinating thing about it that you made it look so simple. Stay healthy and blessed Huw Richards.

  3. This is a really great video, really inspiring and some great info. Your enthusiasm is really amazing. Thanks so much for sharing this.

  4. Needed a good UK veg grower to learn from on you tube, and hey presto here i am, on your channel. Already on video number 2 and your tips are priceless 🙏

  5. I really don’t care of gardening but love seeing you…😍 very handsome! New subscriber! 🤣

  6. You did an interview with Brock Hughes, can you please tell me where he is now? I can't find any further videos, his videos were wonderful! Thanks so much for your videos as well 😊

  7. I love your channel. Do you have a video specifically on that bed you took your kale starts out of for the "kale year round" video. Trying to explain to my hubby what I want. That struck me as perfect for my needs.

  8. Mate I love your work and you're an absolute bloody legend, but if I see one more semi-clickbait title from your ass I will personally come to Wales and pee on your plants

  9. I'm curious to know why you say a gardener's dream is a walled garden? Is it because of wind-breaking benefits?

  10. Pots are great where you get plenty of rain. Not good in a hot Summer climate like Australia where the black pots heat up & you have to remember to water twice daily. I tried tyres last year for my vines thinking I can fill them with great soil & easily know where to water in the hot months… Experiment gone wrong… Burnt them & got nothing… Oh well, you live & learn a LOT with gardening! Gleaned some great tips to include in this year's vege patch! 👌🌟

  11. There is timing also with potatoes and squash. Plant the squash next the the potato bed. Then harvest the potatoes next to the squash. As the potatoes go then the squash will take over the space. Tromba d'albenga is good for this, seems to be the only squash which likes growing towards the north.

  12. I really like these videos, but could you please please stop to catch your breath every once in a while?

  13. My idea to aid me in the garden is to create what i call food islands in which i create circular or simular beds which i keep apart from the main garden or beds for instance if i plant cucurbits such as squash i plan for their eventual size and determine number of plants i want for that food island way i see it i provide the space needed for the eventual mature plant and make for an easier harvesting ability much like a key hole garden plus i imaigne maintaining ,amending and fertilzation to be easier thus better soil health which means better harvests and plant health no doubt

  14. So what if space isn't an issue? Then how do I double garden yields based on square foot? You should specify that this is about limited space gardening.

  15. Hi Huw, I’m new to vegetable growing and had my first allotment in October, I’ve planted a bed with garlic and onions but what could I grow in that bed once I harvest them? Any help would be great.

  16. I grow herbs in containers, this makes them mobile so I move them to trick bad insects into leaving my kale and lettuce alone.

  17. Really beneficial video. If you don’t mind me asking what is the name of your runner beans they look magnificent. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦

  18. Hey Huw, I had a thought, are you at all concerned about growing your food in the plastic containers which could potentially "leak" bad chemicals into the food.. Or is there some containers you stay away from? 🙂
Btw thank you for All your great vidios ive learnt so so much, and right before the season so i can implent most of it right away 😊!

  19. Love the trellis idea. But we live in an area in Canada that has crazy high winds…les suetes. We get wind gusts that range from 120km -200+km in any given storm. Things will rip off buildings and all of that too. We've managed to make a coldframe/greenhouse that will bleed the winds, as for framing in the garden area we used fence posts and cattle fencing. I'd love to hear your suggestions on what we can grow on the fence material that would help shelter the garden. Apart from beans and grapes we don't have anything vine-like growing yet. Thoughts?
