I started making my own granola during Covid when I couldn’t find the one my boyfriend liked at the stores. I usually double the recipe, you can use any nuts you have on hand. Tonight I’m using cashews, almonds, pistachios, sesame seeds. Missing from the recipe I posted is 2 cups dried fruits can be added once the granola has been cooled completely and you’re breaking it up to store it. It freezes pretty well but not so much with the fruit added.

I’ve been making my own granola for 20 years because I tend to like it less sweet than the store-bought stuff. It’s so good that I’ve given it as Christmas presents.

I use all maple syrup as sweetener, add a touch of nutmeg, and dump in cup or two of raisins. If you can find puffed rice, wheat, or corn, it’s a great texture addition.
