I have an old school crock pot (that I love) but it’s more deep than wide. Will my vegetables cook ok if they aren’t in contact with the liquid??

Need to add that there are two 1.5 chuck roasts beneath the veggies with about 2-2.5 cups of bone broth. It’ll be on high for about 8-10 hours (thanks for the advice on cook time from my last post!!!)
Last time I put more liquid and the veggies were covered but it caused issues with cook time, so just want to make sure the veggies will be ok? Should I mix in a few hours? Put the meat on top?? Oh and the lid will be on!! Just took it off for the picture.

The sides heat up too, so it will be fine. Just don’t lift the lid.

They should steam. As said above just don’t move the lid

Yes. The steam will cook them just fine. Don’t be tempted to take off the lid though.

In the future, put your root veg on the bottom and the meat on top. This allows the meat juices to drip on the veggies, adding flavor. Root veg also requires a bit more to cook, so keeping them low, closer to the heat source, ensures they will be done around the same time. It’s also recommended to keep the meat away from the bottom of you can, just to help evenly cook.

Steam from the liquid, with the lid on, should cook them. If you’re worried, open it once or twice and toss them around…might take a little longer to cook since it’ll let some heat out.

I always place my potatoes and veggies on the bottom and lay my meat on top but I’ve done it this way also and never had any issues. Looks yummy btw!

Vegetables should be at the bottom and meat on top. I have original instructions of that style of Crockpot from the 1970s

I always layer my old school crock pot just as you have done so the meat soaks up all the fla or from the veggies. They should cook just fine if you keep the cover on.

I dont put my veggies in until a couple hours before supper, however i do normally make sure they contact liquid.

Always put veg in first they take longer to cook than the meat.

It should be fine. Side note, my mom had (she might still have it) this exact crock pot. O course, the nob disappeared eons ago and I don’t know how on earth she manages to get it turned to the right setting, LOL.
