    Is this a thing like adding coffee to chocolate brownies/cakes to bring the flavor out?

    What does this do for the chili? Or is it a regional thing?

    I never use bars but cocoa powder is a necessary ingredient in my chili. It gives it so much depth of flavor. It’s incredible. The spicier the chili, the more cocoa powder it gets.

    I use 1 ounce of chocolate and a small amount of cinnamon in every chili batch.

    Just enough to help cut the heat of the peppers, but not to distract from the taste.

    Excellent addition to great chili

    I’m just gonna take your word on this. I’m happy with my chili recipe and I’m not going to risk ruining an entire 7qt crockpot full on an experiment.

    Japanese Curry also has chocolate added to it, pretty commonly.

    This is a hard pass for me… but I can also see how this would work well for the American palate. Every time I go to the US, I feel like I’m eating sugar bombs all day every day. Even the pizza dough is sweet.
