I caught a cold/flu and made chicken soup. Lots of garlic, ginger, chilli etc..It was good but lacked that special something. I would love to hear any tips or secrets!

My in-laws line a bowl with mashed potatoes then add the chicken noodle soup. It sounds weird, but it’s surprisingly good.

    What are all the ingredients?

Black pepper and coriander seeds are usually great additions for flavor.

I add a lot of dried parsley, and some rosemary/thyme.

    Vegetable or mushroom stock.

    Cream or Coconut milk

    Vinegar or lime juice?

Try a little fish sauce and a tiny bit of sugar. Not too much and it’ll give it that umami hit.

Cabbage. It’s so underrated in soup.

Try some shirodashi. You won’t regret it

Make the broth from a Costco chicken in a big pot of water

I got into a soup making phase for awhile. At first they came out a little underwhelming.

The trick ended up being salt and olive oil. Once I added those two ingredients, everything else just popped.

  10. White pepper, onion powder, celery salt, and sage. Can’t go wrong!

I personally like fresh dill and lemon juice at the end. A bay leaf during the cooking process adds some nice earthiness, too.

Mom has to make it. That’s the special something

Fresh mint leave, if avaliable, and a splash of lemon juice, and perhaps a small bay leave while cooking/reheating. Speedy recovery!

I’ve started adding rubbed sage to mine. Add your spices towards the end so there is a stronger flavor. I sauté the shallots instead of onion before adding to the soup. Generous on the pepper and salt to taste. I like to roast my carrots too before adding them to the soup since I like that flavor more! And a dash of Lemmon at the end.

Good chicken stock needs more salt than you think.

Apple cider vinegar for a flavor punch and health benefits. Same with lemon juice- vitamin c and helps balance your ph. Bay leaf for flavor, or my favorite is a dash of old bay. I hope you feel better soon op.

Celery salt a good amount of bullion and lots of fresh ground black pepper, no noodles needed

  19. I always add fresh chopped dill to chicken soups

I swear to god if you tell anyone! Just a hint of Cajun seasoning, not enough to taste but enough to feel. It warms the belly just a bit more. Don’t turn it into a Cajun dish, just a hint.
    And black pepper
    And a bay leaf

It needs a little acid. Maybe lemon or lime or a dash of rice vinegar.

*Fresh* dill.. though I think I’d take out the ginger if I added that
