  1. I can't wait to see how you set yours up. I have two of the 8'x2' bins. I love them. They do not rust. I love the height. I was thinking of getting more. I didn't think about painting them. I look forward to seeing what you will do

  2. How exciting, Robbie! I was checking out some metal raised beds but I didn't like the assembly part AND THE PRICE.

  3. Good deal!
And remember they are designed to hold water which is 8lbs a gallon, so the trough is pretty doggone strong! So 103 gallons water = 824lbs!!
I think the dirt and compost might weigh less than that and exert less pressure outwards.
I’m really looking forward to see what you do with this and how it works out.
    Thanks Robbie!

  4. Good Evening I just watched your recent video. I have used these metal containers with great success. I live in Sidney bc and am visiting Cal. until the end of March. I am new to commenting on your site but and would love to share pictures of how I have attached cattle fencing to create a vertical garden growing peas beans and cucumbers. This is very productive and provides a privacy screen for our patio. I watch your videos and have learned so much I follow the square foot method of gardening and it is amazing what one can grow in a small space. If you would like to see how I use these let me know how to share photos. Fellow green thumb here Take care

  5. Hi Robbie and Gary. Oh like where your going with this. Can not wait to see the progress. I have wondered about those. Thanks

  6. Do you think that painting it with Pool Liner paint would make it last even longer? That one is 159.00 here in TN at TSC and they don't even offer the larger tanks A friend of mine uses these but the larger long ones and so far in 4 years there is no bowing of the sides. These are much sturdier than the two companies you mentioned. 🙂

  7. I have one that I'm hopefully going to finish setting up tomorrow. I'm interested to see what you do with yours 🙂 I bought mine to hopefully keep the neighbors Himalayan blackberries out of my planting areas.

  8. So cool Robbie ❣️ I can't wait to see how you'll set it up! Of course I can't use the same in my balconies but I'll get tips cause from every video that you make I'm getting a huge amount of information and tios to make my gardening life easier and enjoyable ❣️
So this is going to be another interested project to watch 💡🌟
I've got some huge pots that I will use them for my tomatoes and zucchinis this season and you will give me ideas how to manage this pots the best way 🤗🌻

  9. I just ordered an eight pack of 18 gallon totes, fuchsia from Walmart. This is year two of my tote garden inspired by Robbie.

  10. We all are going to get a new perspective on gardening !!!! A new gardening adventure !!!! I'm glad I found this channel !!!!

  11. I like the idea of a raised bed. My concern is that the zinc in the galvanizing process could leach into your soil. You make a point with your containers to make sure that they are food safe, but what about the metal? Just a thought. I really enjoy your videos.

  12. It looks like it's welded to seal it. I'm wondering if there's lead in that weld and if it can leach out into the soil. That single hole doesn't seem like it would be enough to drain properly, without drilling more drainage holes. Also, I'm wondering if you can do hugelkultur in these tubs.

  13. These are designed to handle rough treatment from large animals like cattle and horses. An excellent addition!

  14. The galvanized will last longer than 10 years….I've had mine for 10 years and still no rust….the trick is to fill them to the top…anything exposed to open air will rust, that's why you need to fill it up. You need to remove the plug to enable drainage, otherwise it will get swampy.

  15. I use both the long ones and the one you are featuring as and I have found them all to be very solid. I had them in my greenhouse to grow winter veggies and we are now moving them out to the garden because we are changing the layout of the greenhouse for seedlings. These are excellent and I have not noticed any bowing in the sides. In sure I'll get many years out if these. Also I can fill one and a half with a half yard of good quality soil . That's one small pick up load for about 30.00.

  16. You're going to make my husband happy because he promised to build me raised beds….this will solve his time and lack of desire to sweat! :)) Thanks Robbie!

  17. Those would make a good chicken brooder and when your done with that you could use it for plants outdoors. especially for plants that require a different soil type than what you have in your native environment. For example: Berries that need acidic soil. I'm getting one or maybe two.

  18. I was going to buy a birdie's bed, but then realized (thanks to you!) how many totes I could buy! I have 8 totes planted from last year, and 8 more totes getting ready for this spring, and lots of $$$$ left over for seed and soil.

  19. Bobby. Thanks to you I started 5 containers last year and they did great except for my cauliflower. Do we need to do anything special for cauliflower and broccoli?
